From your regular Pan de Sal to odd-sounding breads like Putok or Pusit, Margarine Madness! showcases different types of breads that these local bakeries make for Filipinos to enjoy.

Hope you enjoy viewing our blog!

Atin Ito!

Being a college student here in manila isn’t a joke, and not even a dream. It's a reality!  Living here as a dormer is really hard; we need to look for our food and we have to move for us to survive. So as a student from the province who moved here in manila to study, I really had a hard time looking for anything consumable that will suit my taste buds.

Then Pan de Pidro was on the rescue!!

This bakery is located at 2600 Taft Ave Corner P Ocampo St. Brgy. 729, Zone 079 Malate, Manila

Their products ranges from P4.00 to P10.00 maximum. Pretty cheap, don't you agree?

  1. Spanish Bread
  2. Cheese melt
  3. Pan de Coco
  4. Pineapple pie
  5. Cream bar
  6. Ube bar
  7. Mango/ ube ensaymada
  8. Half moon
  9. Hopia baboy
  10. Mongo bread
  11. Cheese cupcake
  12. Kababayan

  1. Hamburger buns
  2. Mamon
  3. Custard mini
  4. Butter slice
  5. Brownies
  6. Cinnamon rolls
  7. Mocha slice
  8. Marble slice
  9. Sliced monay
As a bakeshop, the quality of its products is well above the “masa” variety and may already be categorized as specialized baked goodies. But the bottom-line is that Pan de Pidro’s quality products are always offered at prices that are well appreciated by the value-conscious middle and lower-middle income groups.

Pan de Pidro is now a household name within the community called Barangay Vergara in Mandaluyong City, where it all started. Now, through nationwide franchising, Pan de Pidro hopes to bring this enhanced concept of bread-making to every community in the country.

Overall, Pan de Pidro gave me a good time looking for nice taste for my taste buds. Not just for me, but also  my friends and relatives, too! :D

BREAKFAST

Every morning I always ask my parents, "what’s for breakfast?" And there you go, we always have this “pandesal” together with the other food in the dining table. Actually I prefer eating a heavy breakfast but if I’m running late for school , I’d grab one just to fill my empty stomach. :)

We always buy our pan de sal from our trusted bakery which is the “PANDESAL KING” which is located near the house.

“PANDESAL KING”

The establishment is named “Pandesal King” because their specialty is really the pan de sal bread itself. Aside from pan de sal, they also sell other baked items like ensaymada, egg pie, chocolate roll, Spanish bread and etc. They are known for their freshly baked pan de sal that they sell every morning. Filipinos traditionally eat pandesal every morning together with their cup of coffee and until now “pan de sal” is still patronized by the community because it already became part of their life and it’s a tradition that’s why many people still buy “pandesal” in this bakery.
HOW TO GET THERE
It is located on Estrada Street between Dian Street and Conchu Street. The location of the bakery is near the church, school and near the road. The bakery can be easily seen by people who pass by.
The bakery produces and sells food baked in an oven like breads and pastries.
Aside from pan de sal, I’ve also tried their other baked items which tastes good too.
Kinds of Products
Pandesal, Chocolate roll, Ensaymada, Brazo de Mercedes, Spanish Bread, Egg pie and many more.

When it comes to quality of their baked items, they all taste good and it’s affordable too.
I know it is just a small establishment but I think they also need advertisements in order for them to attract more customers. How? They can put posters about the bakery and the products they sell or they can just give away flyers. I know that it can be costly but I’m sure it will help.
Since they have good quality products, I think you should try one and be the judge! You’ll see what my source of energy tastes likes. If I had tried their other products already why don’t you try some? And see yourself  wanting for more margarine in your mouth! :))
SEE FOR YOURSELF!

Simply SIMPLE

I'm in search of a bakery that sells countless products at low cost. And luckily, I found one near my hometown that has been around for years and serves quite a number of people who keeps coming back for more.

Tuboro’s Bakery is located at Gonzales St. in Caloocan City. It is a perfect location for selling baked products because it is near a Market Place and some other residences. People are just bustling every minute to get their goods, especially while it is hot. The bakery could never run out of customers because people are just keep coming back and looking for something new or their favorite baked goods.

Tuboro’s bakery had been around for almost twenty five years. It is quite popular among the people here in our place, it offers countless products and one of the specialty is Pan De Sal. It is during the morning that the bakery is at its selling peak due to high demand of pan de sal, people are just clamoring for that hot pan de sal to be eaten at breakfast and dipped perhaps in a cup of piping hot coffee.

It is usual that the bakery prepares for the afternoon because around 3 pm it is merienda when people would buy breads to match with either juice or soft drinks. It is typically the pinoy culture which is very evident in the way that the people live.

Here are some of the products of “TUBORO’S BAKERY”.

TUBORO'S BAKERY

To sum up my yummy trail of bread adventure, Tuboro’s Bakery is a small and humble bakery, it doesn’t have the perfect ambiance but I am sure that this bakery would not let you down when it comes to taste, texture and aroma. With every bite of the bread you would have in your mind the memories of a typical pinoy atmosphere when regards to bread and that is the taste of margarine with every piping hot bite.

Bread for the Masses

by: Kaye Woo

Waking up to that sweet smell of bread really brightens up my day! Especially when it’s as early as 5am, most people would have a hard time trying to straighten up from bed. But for me, the scent of bread that’s fresh out of the oven makes my tummy growl.

So this little bakery here is located along the highway of Northbay Boulevard and at the corner of Honorio Lopez Boulevard right here in Balut, Tondo (which is practically two blocks away from my home). But believe it or not, I’ve been waking up smelling that fresh aroma every day! (Unless I sleep late because of projects)

Counter ladies were kind of surprised when I told them
I would buy one of each bread for a school project =))
This bakery is named, “CD1 Bakery”.  They sell quite a variety of breads. They all look good for a local bakery, and even smell reaaally good, too. Since this is a local bakery, you can expect its part Sari-Sari store. So they sell sachets of shampoo, iced tea, soft drinks, instant food, and etc. So here’s the list of the good stuff:

  1. Ensaymada
  2. Ensaymada Bulaklak
  3. Mamon
  4. Putok
  5. Choco Roll
  6. Choco Bread
  7. Ube Roll
  8. Banana Cake Slice
  9. Putok (topped with sugar)
  10. Pusit
  11. Ube Bread (flower-shaped)
  12. Plaka Bread
  13. Choco Turnover
  14. Ube Bread
  15.  Plaka Bread (small)
  16. Cheese Roll
  17. Spanish Bread
  18. Cheese Bread
  19. Torta
  20. Kababayan
  21. Pan de Coco
  22. Pianono Roll Slice
  23. Monay (small)
  24. Monay (big)
Putting aside the fact that they all had very identical taste, I’d say it’s actually kind of worth it. Their Banana Cake Slice tasted really good, and their Pianono Roll Slice and Mamon were soft and sweet. Oh and their Torta had a great crumbly texture.

Overall, they make good breads which fit the taste of the masses! Every peso is worth it because, compared to other bakeries, they were quite generous with the size of each bread.

Bread Adventure

 by: Jason Ong

I was searching for a small bakery to try out some breads and to compare the goods that are sold in bakeries from what are done in our class in school. So while I was touring around Makati, I finally found a bakery. It’s located at Mayapis street. It looked like a sari-sari store selling breads and some candies, and other unbaked items.

It was my first time to actually compare prices of baked products because I never really was a fond of them until now that I started to appreciate it. The prices were just around Php2.50 per bread which is cheap since it is also satisfies your hunger and it is very easy to bring wherever you go. They sell Monay, Spanish bread, Star Bread, Pan de Coco, Ensaymada, and cookies and I tasted the ensaymada and the pan de coco. The taste was fair enough that can satisfy people, also you can taste the margarine in each bread.

Overall Henry’s bakery is a decent bakery to grab and go, the only problem is the location because they are sort of hidden in a farther street.
